Jeff Beck is giving high praise to John Mayer, going as far as to dub him "the new Eric Clapton." Beck told Spinner.com that Mayer, in a decade, will be one of the few guitarists from this generation who will appear on a top 100 guitarists of all time list. He said, "he seems to be the one to fly the blues flag." But Mayer wasn't the only thing on Beck's mind. He talked again about possibly working with his former Jeff Beck Group band mate Rod Stewart on a brand-new album. Beck said, "We've had a couple of meetings and he's keen," adding that potentially partnering with Stewart on a new album, "got me fired up for something to do rather than worry about my next album."

Beck has a new CD/DVD in stores, Rock n' Roll Party, and his Rock n' Roll Party tour runs until April 9th, with a final show in San Francisco. Following that, he'll hit the road again starting April 13th in Salt Lake City, Utah. All the dates can be found at his website.
